The International Management School (IMS)  is the first school in Davao that has been chosen by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to offer the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Entrepreneurship which is a Level 5 diploma.
 
The special course will include units of competencies in hospitality , tourism and entrepreneurship. Students are developed  towards becoming well-rounded individuals, empowered thinkers, effective communicators and global entrepreneurs
 
Many aspire to be leaders and entrepreneurs where they too could set the tone of business.  This is particularly true in the hospitality and tourism industry where entrepreneurship is a dominant force, and there is a need for a  program of the study that can help them better understand the demands of being a leader or a business person in this sector.   
 
These  are  comprehensive management and leadership development program designed to develop aspiring entrepreneurs into young business men and tourism entrepreneurs of the future.
 
These  program is intended to provide students with a solid foundation in entrepreneurship with a focused track in hospitality and tourism .
 
The intent of this course is to provide a cornerstone experience from which the students can build their entrepreneurial management training in starting a business of their choice.
 
The course will emphasize entrepreneurship as a manageable process that can be applied in a hospitality and tourism organizational setting.  Further, it is a course that mixes theory with practice and students will be challenged to apply principles, concepts and frameworks to real situations.  Opportunity recognition is the very basis from which entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial activity begins.  Research shows that opportunity recognition is learned behavior and as such this course will also seek to provide students with a better understanding of opportunity recognition through an exploration of the skills, tools, and mindset to generate new business ideas in hospitality.
 
They will be groomed through individual project, special assignments and cases; attend classrooms lectures, workshops & training program and on-the-job training.  They will be assigned to mentors comprising of academic & industry leaders in business.
 
As the job market becomes more competitive, higher education is no longer just about acquiring knowledge, but also about developing sustainable entrepreneurial skills and competencies for the graduates to succeed in the 21st century.
